Job description:

The primary responsibility of this position is to apply hardware engineering and software design theories and principles in researching, designing, and developing product hardware and software interfaces using Internet-based technologies. Provides integrated systems planning and recommends innovative technologies that will enhance the current system. Recommends appropriate desktop, computer platform, and communication links required to support IT goals and strategy. May coordinate the activities of the project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs. Integration of J2EE application servers with existing and new WEB server and database server platforms is a principle activity. Overall support of network computing environments combined with deployment of appropriate Internet-based technologies to yield effective information delivery systems meeting organization-wide business objectives is the critical aspect.

Job description:	We are looking for a technologist to complement its existing Compliance Technology team based in New York . This team is responsible for providing front and back office technologies to meet our client and regulatory compliance requirements for MSIM products on a global basis. The current focus of this group is a real time pre-trade compliance system called Sentinel from the vendor Camelot. Sentinel is a VB / C++ application that heavily utilizes Java and messaging and is used to ensure that the securities being traded within IIM are not outside client or regulatory recommendations. So far we have integrated Sentinel with our Equity trading platforms. Integration with our Fixed Income trading environment is under way and other products will follow. In addition to integrating Sentinel, the team develops and supports many different reporting applications for the IIM compliance department. These include SEC and IMRO reports such as Section 13 and 17a7. The technologies used for these include Crystal Reports, perl, C and UNIX shell. The successful applicant will be assisting in the development and support of global compliance initiatives, including the evolution of the Sentinel product. The applicant can expect time to be spent between user relationship management, development, support and integration. They will also be expected to learn about the Investment Management business area, a microcosm of the whole firm, and specifically about regulatory compliance. While we are looking for strong technical skills this is not the role for a pure developer.
